PHILOSOPHY DI ALBERTA FERRETTI: A STRANGE INSPIRATION

Following a longish hiatus, ie. time spent stressing over a demanding project at new job, it is higher than high time I resumed activity. The cue, however, was not a natural urge to get back (these days I would rather sleep all day if I could), or some insane urge to complete mission impossible (there is simply too much to cover), but pure inspiration. Leafing through my favourite magazine I came across a single image from the Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti show that I just wanted to add to the blog, along with this vintage style outfit post: Sweet Surrender. So, there you go.

So sweet, so gentle, cute as a dozen bunnies, these pastel colours are something I would normally dismiss as too saccharine. Still, the cuts, the structure, and a hundred little bits and bobs including peterpan collars, box pleats, checks, one of my favourite shoe styles, pinafore dress layering, babydoll dresses, fine knits and metallics, a style that ranges from kindergarten doll through Twiggy to Jackie O, and the boldness of the 1960s in their full glory means Alberta does get away with such a palette.

I have already confessed to being inspired, the moment I saw the aforementioned single image, to unearth a vintage dress with a far-from-perfect fit, and snap away. These sugary-sweet things in our possession are having a moment, thanks to Alberta, and they are worth celebrating.
