Fancy a bit of exercise in lace & layering? Here's how to make a transparent black lace shirt work, well, for work.
The trick is to find just the right cut for the layer you wear underneath - it makes all the difference. First, I had a classic bodice on, which looked fine with a couple of shirt buttons left open. Then, I swapped it for a basic halter tube top after no small amount of digging around. With the sort of top that sits securely and shows bare skin along a clear horizontal line, the shirt feels smarter, while the neck strap adds a little bondage-style detail. Once the basics are done, you can choose your top layer. Mine is a double-front waistcoat with a racer back, but if I had one with a more classic back cut, I would have opted for that. To both heighten and ease the gothic drama of black lace, finish off the look with a cross necklace and monochrome accessories and perhaps a little white blazer.
